Key Findings
From mid-2023 to mid-2024, Indonesia’s socio-political landscape was dominated by the presidential race as well as the opposition to a string of major government policies and legislative programmes.
The Ministry of Communications and Information continues to block websites through the official blocklist Trust Positif, and more than 90% of porn and gambling websites tested through OONI were found to be blocked.
There were reports of more stringent censorship mechanisms such as DNS hijacking, with discussions of IP blocking and encrypted DNS in planning.
