Key Findings
Pornography and gambling sites continued to be the category with the highest rate of blocking, similar to our findings in previous editions of the report.
In the same period, more political criticism websites and critical news websites were blocked, such as Utusan TV and Malaysia Now, as well as Guang Ming Daily, although only for 2 days.
LGBTQ-related websites continued to be blocked, such as the website of the dating app Grindr.
Updates/ Clarifications
Updated as at 23 October 2024
In page 19, 26 and 41, the period of coverage have been corrected to July 2023 to June 2024.
In Annex I (page 28-37), it was previously reported that were 158 confirmed blockings during the coverage period. This has been corrected to 149.
After checking, we had removed 11 domains that were mistakenly marked as confirmed blockings and added 2 domains that we had missed out.

Note that 'utusantv.com' is still reported as blocked, while the domain that has been removed is 'utusanTV.com', where the tests had resulted in failures.
